JVC KENWOOD & RealD to Partner in Professional 3D Imaging
— Plan to Market All-new 3D Products for Cinema and Beyond —

Yokohama, Japan, December 24, 2009 — JVC KENWOOD Holdings, Inc. has agreed with RealD, the world leader in 3D-imaging devices for cinema, to pursue the development and marketing of professional 3D-imaging devices for fields including motion pictures.

Through the partnership, JVC KENWOOD expects to develop and sell innovative 3D products such as 3D LCD monitors that combine advanced audio-visual technologies of its subsidiary, Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. (JVC), with the world-leading 3D creation and playback technologies of RealD as well as to incorporate RealD-patented property in JVC products.

RealD’s widely recognized brand commands the world’s largest share of the market for 3D-imaging devices used in cinema and other fields.

Interest in 3D has been rising as a result of popular 3D movies released by major studios and a growing number of theaters equipped to present these movies. JVC KENWOOD already has a track record of producing professional 3D-imaging devices including GD-463D10, a full HD 3D LCD monitor for professional use. Launched earlier this year, the monitor quickly earned acclaim for its soft gradation and true color reproduction, and is now being used by Hollywood movie studios, theaters, research institutes and other enterprises involved with professional 3D imaging.

Going forward, the partnership between JVC KENWOOD and RealD is intended to dramatically enhance professional 3D-imaging devices and thereby accelerate the market for these products.

“This partnership with JVC will give the market high-quality displays capable of delivering exceptional 3D visuals. We look forward to JVC leveraging RealD’s three decades of 3D technology experience to capture the full capabilities of their unique 3D visualization products,” said Michael V. Lewis, Chairman and CEO of RealD.

“We are delighted to establish a partnership with RealD, the global leader in 3D technology for cinema, which will allow us to build on our solid track record of technological development for Hollywood and related markets,” said Haruo Kawahara, Chairman, President and CEO of JVC KENWOOD Holdings, Inc. “We hope this will lead to a dramatic increase in our 3D-imaging device business.”

JVC will exhibit an all-new professional 3D product, the first resulting from the partnership with RealD, at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), one of the world’s biggest home electronics exhibitions, which will take place in the U.S. city of Las Vegas from January 7 to 10.
