Proposing professional digital radio communications systems solutions intended for various professional purposes by applying the Group’s wireless communications technologies
JVCKENWOOD Exhibits at IWCE 2019
Showcasing PoC (PTT*1-over Cellular) services delivered over mobile networks and
DMR*2 TIER III digital trunking communications systems

JVCKENWOOD Corporation (JVCKENWOOD) will exhibit at the IWCE 2019 (International Wireless Communications Expo 2019), one of the world’s largest professional radio communications equipment and systems exhibition and trade fairs that will be held in Las Vegas, USA on March 6th and 7th (local time).

JVCKENWOOD’s booth will mainly feature BOUNDLESS PoC (PTT*1-over Cellular) services that provide similar functionality to conventional transceivers using smartphones and supporting communications equipment delivered over mobile networks and PoC-enabled devices, as well as DMR*2 TIER III digital trunking communications systems that use the Multi-Channel Access method to deliver high-capacity, high-efficiency communications.

JVCKENWOOD has communications systems subsidiaries; EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. (USA), Zetron Inc. (USA), and Radio Activity s.r.l. (Italy). At the IWCE 2019, the JVCKENWOOD Group will leverage its comprehensive technological capabilities to propose professional digital radio communications systems solutions for the public safety market (e.g. police, fire departments and ambulance services), the public service and social infrastructure market (e.g. electricity, water and gas) and the enterprise market.

*1: Push-to-talk: A basic operation of digital radio system, allowing user to transmit speech just by pushing down the Talk button.
*2: Digital Mobile Radio (DMR): A digital radio standard for professional digital communications systems which use two-slot Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) method in a 12.5kHz narrow band.

1. BOUNDLESS PoC (PTT*1-over Cellular) services for smartphones and PoC-enabled devices

We will exhibit BOUNDLESS PoC (PTT*1-over Cellular) services that provide similar functionality to conventional transceivers using smartphones and supporting communications equipment delivered over mobile networks. We will present professional smartphones with robustness we have cultivated through our commercial radio communications systems. We will also present services available for use in a broad footprint area using LTE communications.

2.DMR*2 TIER III digital trunking radio systems that provide high-capacity, high-efficiency communications (scheduled for launch in early March)

JVCKENWOOD’s DMR (Digital Mobile Radio)*2-compliant digital radio communications systems were adopted as the communications system for MotoGPTM, the pinnacle of motorcycle racing in the world, at the start of the 2018 MotoGPTM season, contributing to the smooth operation of racing organizers. We will exhibit the latest DMR*2 TIER III digital trunking radio communications system developed by drawing on the feedback from the staff involved in the operation of MotoGPTM races and scheduled for launch to the general professional radio communications systems market in early March. This system uses the Multi-channel Access method to deliver higher capacity, higher efficiency communications than with the conventional TIER II method, allowing for further increase in communication traffic volume.

3.The NX-5000 and NX-3000 series of multi-protocol digital radios

We will showcase the NX-3000 series of multi-protocol digital radios that support the NXDNTM format and the DMR*2 format and the NX-5000 series radios, which are higher-end models that also support P25*3 digital protocols. Both series support the DMR*2 format, and the upgrade (slated for March) will add support for the DMR*2 TIER III, an upper-layer standard. Because one unit can support multiple digital protocols, these radios can flexibly meet different user needs.

4.P25*3 radio communications systems solutions for the public safety market

We will showcase the NX-5000H and VM7000H series of high power mobile radios with output power of 110W, developed for the law-enforcement, fire departments, and emergency response teams that need to communicate as a team under harsh environments such as accident and crime scenes, as well as the P25*3-compliant VP6000 series portable digital radios with more robustness and ease-of-use. These models will be showcased as radio communications systems solutions for the public safety market.

5.Showcase of radio solution systems for various fields consisting of radio communications systems and applications as a package

We will exhibit our radio communications systems and the application services of development partners as package solution systems for various fields.

5.1. Indoor location information management system for prisons and commercial facilities

We offer a system that acquires location information for staff within prisons and commercial facilities in a timely manner, enabling appropriate staffing. With the location information from the GPS in the NEXEDGE® series device and the Bluetooth® beacons installed in the building, this system will make it possible to track, report, and record the location and status of staff members in real-time.

5.2. CommandIQ compact IP-based dispatch system for base stations

We will exhibit the CommandIQ compact IP-based dispatch system that saves installation space for base stations and operations offices. NEXEDGE®digital radio systems used for radio communications support IP-based remote connection, and thus can be installed in any location. By integrating with MAX dispatch console system from the JVCKENWOOD Group’s Zetron, the handset devices can perform dispatch operations with reduced space.

6.NEXEDGE networking solutions

We offer total solutions including wide area telecommunications networks for public services and enterprizes with the NEXEDGE® series, which feature high scalability and reliability.
