JVCKENWOOD Exhibits at NAB 2019
Proposing New Solutions for IP Video Production Highlighting the Evolution and Expansion of CONNECTED CAM™ Series Camera Recorders

JVCKENWOOD Corporation (JVCKENWOOD) will exhibit at NAB 2019, one of the world’s largest exhibitions of broadcasting equipment, hosted by the National Association of Broadcasters, to be held in Las Vegas, USA, from April 8 (Monday) to 11 (Thursday), 2019.

This year, JVCKENWOOD will propose new solutions that enhance its range of camera recorders and for IP video production. The spotlight will be on the evolution and expansion of the CONNECTED CAM™ series of professional camera recorders, which offer connectivity with high-resolution and high-quality images. In addition, JVCKENWOOD will announce its participation in the SRT Alliance, an IP transmission protocol that allows high-definition live video streaming, and conduct demonstrations of live streaming. We will also display a graphic overlay application for IP-based live production workflows when live-streaming sports events and a new series of display monitors for 4K video production.

1. Proposing solutions made available through the evolution and expansion of the CONNECTED CAM™ series

JVCKENWOOD’s CONNECTED CAM™ series of professional camera recorders have continued to evolve and expand as they support a wide range of web-based live production applications that have become available at live production sites in recent years. Our booth will feature an enhanced lineup of broadcasting camera recorders and a broad range of high-definition solutions, which support IP-based live production workflows through the expansion of peripheral equipment. We will also introduce our activities related to the SRT protocol, an IP transmission technology that shows promise for widespread adoption.

(1) The GY-HC550 and GY-HC500 models of 1-inch 4K camera recorders (scheduled for release in June) and the GY-HC500SPC series of sports production camera recorders (new product)

The GY-HC550 and GY-HC500 models of 4K memory card camera recorders will be on display as the second iteration of the CONNECTED CAM™ series handheld camera recorders, which support video production in 4K resolution and at 60p frame rates (scheduled for release in June 2019). These products offer high IP connectivity, which supports bidirectional live streaming between on-location shooting sites and broadcasting studio, and deliver high-quality video recording performance with 4K/60p live production using Apple ProRes 422 codec as a standard feature. These models can also record to SSD media using the KA-MC100 dedicated SSD media adapter (available as an option). We will also exhibit the GY-HC500SPC model of camera recorders, which are new products suited to sports broadcasting, where needs are growing for applications with IP connectivity, such as in news broadcasting. This model comes as standard with a tagging function used for sports coaching and a score overlay function for live streaming.

(2) Version upgrade to the GY-HC900 model of 2/3-inch HD camera recorder (upgrade scheduled in July)

We will introduce the Ver. 3.0 upgrade of the GY-HC900 model of CONNECTED CAM™ HD memory camera recorders (released in October 2018). This first iteration of the CONNECTED CAM™ camera recorders offers new features, such as advanced IP connectivity, and various functions to support a wider range of live video production workflows (upgrade scheduled in July). New features added to the upgraded version also include the Progressive AUTO FTP function, an improvement on the AUTO FTP function installed in the existing model, to allow for the flexible transmission of recorded video to the FTP server; support for Apple ProRes 422 codec recording which is widely adopted in the live production industry; and, a tagging function for sports coaching. The upgraded version also supports the KA-MC100 SSD media adapter (available as an option), enabling recording in the Apple ProRes422 format and making backups of long-duration recording data through the combined use of recording to SD card and high-capacity SSD media.

(3)The KM-IP6000 IP-based live production switcher (new product)

We will display the KM-IP6000, a new IP-based live production switcher for studio production developed jointly with Streamstar a.s., a company based in Slovakia in which JVCKENWOOD invested to strengthen our partnership toward expanding the IP-based live production solution business (announced in December 2018). This product comes with the latest IP technology, which allows high-definition live studio production via the general Internet network. In addition, the product is equipped with high-quality, secure, and low-latency transmission technology for reducing packet losses on IP networks, as well as a function for returning video/audio over IP from base stations and multicamera synchronization over IP networks. We will propose the product as a new solution that can deliver an efficient workflow and reduce operational costs when combined with the CONNECTED CAM™ series of camera recorders and make video streaming over IP networks easier.

(4) The RM-LP250 IP remote control panel (new product)

We will exhibit the RM-LP250 IP-enabled remote-control panel for controlling camera recorders over IP networks for studio production and on-location shooting sites for live streaming. This product can be used to operate equipment in the studio, as well as to remotely control multiple camera recorders, switching between them. In addition, functional assignment to buttons on the control panel can be changed freely on the configuration interface of a web browser according to the intended use.

(5)Announcement of participation in SRT Alliance to allow for high-performance video streaming over IP networks and demonstration of video streaming (reference exhibit)

JVCKENWOOD will join the SRT Alliance, which promotes adoption of the Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) protocol, an IP transmission technology that allows high-quality, secure, and low-latency video and audio streaming over IP networks. The SRT protocol is an open source video transmission technology developed by Haivision in Canada and is widely used for video transmission equipment and IP video transmission and distribution services, such as streaming services available on cloud, software, and CDN, and is expected to become the basic protocol for high-definition and high-quality video streaming over IP networks in the future. At the JVCKENWOOD booth, we will demonstrate video streaming via the SRT protocol using the GY-HC900 camera recorder.

2.Live Sports CG for JVC CG application for sports video production (new product)

We will display the Live Sports CG for JVC CG application for sports video production. When used in combination with GY-HM250SP and GY-HC500SPC camera recorders equipped with a score overlay function, this new application can freely produce graphic overlays, such as team logos, on live footage. Producing multiple team logos using this application and storing data on camera recorders prior to sports live streaming enables easy switching between logo graphics for each team at on-location shooting sites.

3.The DT-U series display monitors for 4K video production (new product)

Our booth will display two new models of DT-U series video creation monitors, which have 4K models in the lineup. Both models come with 10-bit panels capable of 14-bit color processing and HD-SDIx4 input. The DT-U31 model supports UHD (3840x2160) resolution and the DT-U31PRO supports native DCI 4K resolution (4096x2160)
