Kenwood Donates Amateur Radios to the Quake Relief Efforts in Haiti.

Kenwood Corporation (Kenwood), an operating company of the JVC Kenwood Group, has donated Amateur Radio (Ham) products to the ongoing quake relief activities in Port-au-Prince, the area of Haiti that was severely damaged by a huge earthquake on January 12. The radios will provide communication support to the search and rescue activities in the stricken area.

Details of the aid

Transportation and communications infrastructure in parts of Haiti were destroyed by the huge earthquake. Given this, Kenwood has donated its Amateur Radio products since they offer a means of communication that requires no public infrastructure. The Kenwood donation was handled by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) “HamAid” program in the U.S. The ARRL has shipped the equipment to the Radio Club Dominicano (RCD) in the Dominican Republic for distribution to the stricken area. The RCD has been providing support by establishing and maintaining a viable means of communication via Amateur Radio.

We at Kenwood would like to express our deepest condolences to the victims and we sincerely hope the devastated areas will be restored as soon as possible.
