JVCKENWOOD Corporation (JVCKENWOOD) will release TS-590SG70, an HF/50 MHz special specification transceiver with the TRIO logo under the KENWOOD brand as a model commemorating the 70^th anniversary of the founding of KENWOOD. TS-590SG70 will be on sale in a limited quantity of 70 units (reservation necessary) starting in mid-September. Sales outlets handling JVCKENWOOD’s radio systems will take reservations from July 24 to September 6, 2017.

Model commemorating the 70^th anniversary of the founding of Kenwood

The former KENWOODCorporation (KENWOOD) that gave birth to the KENWOOD brand under which JVCKENWOOD distributes products marked the 70^th anniversary of its founding last year. TS-590SG70 will be released as a limited-edition product (limited quantity of 70 units) to commemorate the 70^th anniversary. The TRIO logo, which is familiar to users who have long enjoyed amateur radio sets since the days of the TRIO brand, the predecessor of thebrand, is placed exclusively on the front panel badge of this special specification model.

Background to release and overview of product

The former KENWOOD Corporation (Kenwood) began as a company engaged in repair, assembly and sale of radios, and on December 21, 2016, Kenwood marked 70 years of history since the founding of its predecessor, Kasuga Radio Co., Ltd. Ever since the days as TRIO, which was succeeded by the current KENWOOD, our brand has been familiar to users as one representing audio products, radios and other products.

In the amateur radio products segment, the TS-500 series starting with the first model TS-500, which was launched as the Company’s first HF all-band SSB transceiver in 1966, in particular has been favorably received by many users. This is in recognition of the role undertaken by the series of representing this segment under the TRIO brand that has continued to demonstrate improvements in terms of enhanced basic send and receive functions of radio sets, downsizing, user-friendliness and other factors.

In commemoration of the 70^th anniversary of the founding of Kenwood and as a token of our appreciation to all users for their patronage of our products since the days of TRIO, we are releasing a limited special-specification model, TS-590SG70.

Based on the existing popular model HF/50MHz transceiver TS-590SG (released in November 2014), this new model has the TRIO logo on the front panel badge, a luxurious-looking Elegant Crystal Black finish on the front panel and a limited serial number. In addition, we will give away a special call sign plate commemorating the 70^th anniversary of KENWOOD’s founding to all purchasers of this model.

The former KENWOOD Corporation, the originator of the KENWOOD brand, marked the 70^th anniversary of its founding while the former Victor Company of Japan, Limited (JVC), originator of the brands JVC and Victor, celebrated its 90th anniversary. All three brands that we manage have long proved popular with users and have reached a milestone. We will further enhance these three trusted product brands, with their solid track record, the key strengths of JVCKENWOOD.

We placed the TRIO logo, which is the predecessor brand of KENWOOD familiar to users of amateur radios over many years, on the front panel badge exclusively for this model.

2. Adoption of luxurious-looking Elegant Crystal Black finish

We applied the special Elegant Crystal Black finish on this limited-edition anniversary model to give it a luxurious look. The front panel has a clear, glossy finish with glass flake placed on a black base. Gold letters are used on the TRIO badge, main dial and front glass.

3. Limited serial numbers assigned to 70 units

In commemoration of the 70^th anniversary of the founding, we are distributing a limited number of 70 units, each marked with a limited serial number on the back of the main body.

4. Giving away a special call sign plate commemorating KENWOOD’s 70^th founding anniversary to all purchasers
